The Mom Test Earns the Top Shelf

I read a lot of books on Entrepreneurship and Product Managent and they are a major contributor to my desk being a Perpetual mess. Currently I count six, but it's relatively clean right now. Most of the books are okay, few are good, and only the best win a spot on the Hall of Fame self on my bookshelf. Today I would like to welcome The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick to that top shelf.

🙍: The Mom Test is abiut about Customer Discovery via talking to customers, something we should all work to get better at.

🤏: The book wins points for being blessedly short. 126 pages. Well also covering everything you need to know to get started.

➕/➖: The Mom Test uses examples and anti-patern scenarios to highlight what good AND bad conversations look like. Which is incredible as most books tend to keep everything sooo theoretical as to be useless when you try and implement their solution. Huge points for showing me, not just telling me.

📏: The Mom Test provides quick Rules of Thumbs to help jog your memory if you have a reference to the book again. which is a huge thing because I tend to use my favorite books as references and I don't want to read the whole chapter again.

🧵: The Mom Test also manages to perfectly thread the needle between being prescriptive, without locking you into another formula or framework.

Overall the Book is Niche, it about discovery and talking to customers to determine if you business is viable and it handles that topic very very well. 🎉
