Nobody Is Actually Managing 45 Agents

Kicking off one agent that spins up 45 more isn't running a fleet — you typed one thing. The hard part was never producing more; the judgment layer doesn't scale, because the judgment layer is a guy.

I've been racking my head for a while now over how people are claiming they run these massive orchestrations of agents. Because I can't seem to manage more than 3 or 4 workstreams before my brain turns into a basket of parmesan french fries.

Having recently switched to Claude Code, I think I get it now, and it's mostly people BSing themselves. Because is kicking off one agent that decides to spin up 45 more really you running a fleet of 45 agents?

You typed one thing. The agent made the call on the other 44. That's not the same vibe as "I'm managing 45 agents," which sounds a lot like you're managing 45 different workstreams.

The part that's hard was never producing more for the sake of it.

Anyone can burn a month of tokens trying to get rich producing slop ahead of the impending collapse of the modern working class.

The hard part is judgment and the judgment layer doesn't scale, because the judgment layer is a guy. I am that guy, and the guy is you.

*Also I want parmesan french fries for dinner tonight now.
